(RUTHERFORD COUNTY) Vital information about increases in COVID-19 cases, Middle Point Landfill, is there a correlation between increases in Parkinson’s disease and a decrease in dementia--these and other topics will have community leaders share first-hand information on the WGNS' Action Line (8:10-9:00AM) all next week.

All of these topics will be live on the radio or in a podcast format to listen over-and-over. The beauty of hearing the information "live" is that you can text questions that concern you. Text to 615-893-1450 during the broadcast.

Mon. (Aug. 28, 2023) Cases of COVID are creeping UP again. Scott talks with Dr. Dan Rudd about the situation here in the mid-state.  He gives an overview of the situation, and things we can do to reduce risks of a major reoccurrence. As you recall, Dr. Rudd studied the coronavirus extensively and gave continuing reports about how Rutherford County was faring during the pandemic.

Tues. (Aug. 29, 2023) Scott talks with Murfreesboro City Manager Craig Tindall with updates on the City’s Broad Street project, along with the linear park across Broad, solid waste matters, roadway projects, and how the City continues to cope with being the nation’s top boom town (school growth, traffic—and services like police, fire and garbage to serve the exploding population).

Wed.  (Aug. 30, 2023)  Bryan talks with Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr about Middle Point Landfill (Republic was in court last week), as well as issues of financing growth (expanded fire-police, roadways, and other services), while not burdening current residents to pay extra for services used by newcomers. Plus, an UPDATE on the transfer station, recovery court, and Forensics Center.  Mayor Carr is approaching his first year in office, and WGNS will get a “State of Rutherford County” statement and ask him to share information about his relationship with the county commission.

Thu. (Aug. 31, 2023) Bart talks with 8:10AM Middle Point Landfill General Manager Mike Classen tells about public feedback that Republic Services has received at several open house events as well his thoughts on Republic's court appearance last week. 8:35AM Parkinson’s Support Group meets first and third Friday of each month at the St. Clair Senior Center. St. Their Health & Wellness Education Coordinator Laura Grissom and Group Leader Ron Ream talk about the increase in Parkinson’s and a decrease in dementia.

Fri. (Sept. 1, 2023) News from the courts with District Attorney General Jennings Jones, retired ADA J. Paul Newman and a detective to share a “cold case”.

There are so many major topics this week. Some of the subjects could have a dramatic impact on this community. WGNS encourages the public to hear the local issues first-hand and to text personal questions about each topic to the leaders that can make a difference. Text questions to 615-893-1450, and we will make sure our on air guest receive them.
