RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - There's a good chance you saw an increase of patrol officers in Rutherford County along Interstate 24 and Veterans Parkway on Wednesday. The reason for the extra enforcement was to nip bad driving habits in the bud.

Reducing road rage and aggressive driving was the goal of the third “Summertime Blues” traffic enforcement effort that took place on Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 24 and Veterans Parkway.

State and local law enforcement officers patroled on I-24 through Rutherford County and on Veterans Parkway near Interstate 840, said Rutherford County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sean Vinson, who coordinated the event.

“The concept of the operation is to saturate the I-24 corridor through Rutherford County from the Davidson County line to the Coffee County line with a task force of law enforcement personnel and resources targeting impaired, aggressive and distracted drivers,” Vinson said.

Officers focused on impaired diving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, speeding, traveling too close and improper lane changes, he said.

• Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers and sheriff’s deputies patroled I-24 through the county.

• La Vergne Police worked the interstate in their city and the Waldron Road exit.

• Smyrna Police took on Sam Ridley Parkway and Almaville Road exits.

• Murfreesboro Police worked Veterans Parkway near I-840.
