Historical Research Center Supervisor Kayla Howard said, “Anyone who can trace a direct member of their family to Rutherford County in the 1850s and prove it with evidence such as birth records, census records, and so forth will get a First Family Certificate.”

Anyone who can trace a direct member of their family to Rutherford County in the 1850s and prove it with evidence such as birth records, census records, and so forth will get a First Family Certificate. The certificate will say they are a direct descendant from a first family of Rutherford County.

Howard continued, “I'm sure many people in the community will be interested in this program, and we have the data that you need at the Rutherford County Archives and Historical Research Center at 435 Rice Street.”
