(MURFREESBORO)  Main Street Murfreesboro's popular SATURDAY MARKETPLACE only has two more runs before closing for the season. This event is around the historic Rutherford County Courthouse on the square every Saturday morning from 8:00AM until noon.  The final two events are October 21st and 28th.

Main Street's Executive Director Sarah Callender said, "So many items to purchase to eat or give as gifts! Everything from local honey to holiday candles. pumpkins, mums, Halloween treats, handcrafted wood items, ceramics, jewelry, blacksmithing, soaps, lotions and more!"

In addition, the Saturday Marketplace offers a big tent where children can enjoy hands-on-activities.

Callender reminds everyone to look around the historic business district for the five Seward Johnson sculptures that main street has leased and placed around the area for the public to enjoy. Main Street Murfreesboro is introducing the community to PUBLIC ART with the hopes of building interest in having our own collection.

Also, look at the Scarecrows in front of many stores. They were created by many of the downtown business owners.

MORE FUN DOWNTOWN ACTIVITIES - Remember, bring the youngsters to downtown Murfreesboro at 3:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2023. Many merchants and officers are give away candy to visiting trick or treaters.

Plus, the HOLIDAY "Sip, Shop and Stroll" around the historic downtown square begins at 5:00PM on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023.

Wait until you see what Main Street Murfreesboro has in store for Christmas!

More to come...stay tuned to WGNS (locally owned and operated voice of this community for almost 77-years).
