MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Investigators continue to work at uncovering clues to determine who may be a suspect in an October 12th murder that left a Murfreesboro man dead and a second seriously injured.

26-Year-old Christopher Jones-McClean was shot and killed in the 2000 block of Cason Lane and detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) Criminal Investigations Division were at last report, under the belief that robbery was the motive behind the murder.

After the shooting, the preliminary investigation showed the two men were standing in the garage of the Cason Lane home with the door open. A witness told police two masked men approached the victims and demanded money. After the demand, shots were fired and Jones-McClean was killed. The second victim in the shooting was a 25-year-old man who was badly injured. Police told WGNS shortly after the shooting that while the second victim survived, he was listed in critical condition.

As the investigation continues, family and friends of Jones-McClean set-up a GoFundMe page to help the victim's family with funeral expenses. Friends wrote, “Chris McClean, known to many as Kofi, was a remarkable athlete with impeccable character loved by all and inspired many with his tenacious work ethic.” The fundraising page went on to state, “Chris also came from a loving family that has shown up in many ways for several communities of people. This fundraiser is a way for the community to now show up for the McClean Family and let them know that we support them and their efforts to honor their son.”
