RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - In a proactive move to support separated or divorced parents in Rutherford County, an upcoming co-parenting class aims to equip them with essential skills for effective parenting collaboration. Scheduled for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 9 AM to 1 PM, the class will be hosted at the Rutherford County Agriculture Extension Center, located at 315 John R. Rice Blvd. The focus of this educational initiative is to guide parents through creating a parenting plan, particularly those intended for submission to the Tennessee court system.

This specialized class, mandated by Tennessee Law (T.C.A. 36-6-408), addresses crucial aspects of parenting post-separation. Participants will delve into a four-hour session covering topics such as avoiding placing children in the midst of conflicts and providing optimal support during the transition of changing family dynamics. To enroll in the class, individuals must possess a court docket number. It's important to note that divorcing or co-parenting individuals cannot attend the same class, emphasizing the tailored nature of the program.

Tennessee Code Annotated (36-6-408) underscores the significance of parental education during separation or divorce. As outlined in the legal framework, both parents are required to attend a parent educational seminar, unless directed otherwise by a judge. The upcoming co-parenting class in Murfreesboro not only fulfills this legal obligation but also serves as a valuable resource for parents striving to foster a healthy environment for their children amidst changing family circumstances. The cost for this educational opportunity is set at $50, ensuring accessibility for those navigating the complexities of co-parenting.
