MURFREESBORO, TN - Equipment failure is to blame on a morning power outage in Murfreesboro on Monday at around 9:30 AM. Amy Byers with Middle Tennessee Electric told WGNS the failed equipment caused MTE to be locked out of the circuit. The problem originated from the corner of Vine and Spring Street(s) in the area of the Murfreesboro square.
During the outage, which lasted for about 45-minutes, there were about 890 accounts without power.
MTE crews have been busy over the past few days and have worked around the clock. At 5:30 PM on Saturday evening (12/09/2023), the utility provider reported more than 7,200 meters without power. The electricity loss was a result of high winds, lightning and tornadoes in Middle Tennessee. By 6:30 Friday night, that number dropped to 3,100 meters. At 7 PM, all MTE members that were a part of the original outage were restored. Remember, you can always see Middle Tennessee Electric Outages online by visiting MTE.com/Outages.
