DEKALB COUNTY, TN - In nearby DeKalb County, Sheriff Patrick Ray reported Monday that 56-year-old Buddy Gene Williams of Murfreesboro was arrested and charged with violation of an order of protection. Williams bond was set at $7,500 and he is scheduled to be in court on January 4.

Sheriff Ray said that on December 11, Mr. Williams violated an order of protection against him by trying to contact and threaten the woman (protected person) that he was ordered to keep away from. According to Sheriff Ray, Williams contacted a business in Alexandria, TN to speak to the protected person. When he was told she wasn’t working at the time, Williams advised the employees to tell her that he would burn down her house that night, according to officials.

As of Tuesday morning, Williams was still behind bars at the DeKalb County Jail.

In Tennessee, an order of protection is designed to protect victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking. To receive an order of protection, the victim has to go before the courts to be granted anyone has stalked or sexually assaulted you, you can ask the court for an order of protection. There are two types of protection orders in the Volunteer State to include Temporary Protection Orders (TPOs), which are short term orders and Extended Protection Order's (EPO), which are for longer periods of time.
