RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Students from Middle Tennessee, including Brooklyn Hardymon and Patty Hongsawong from Blackman Middle School, have their artwork displayed at the Parthenon in Nashville as part of the Middle Tennessee Regional Student Art Exhibition. Sponsored by the Tennessee Art Education Association, the exhibition showcases selected works from students in grades 6-12 across various artistic categories until March 3.

Both Hardymon and Hongsawong, students of art teacher Deena Cruz at Blackman Middle School, were among the 600 students chosen from area public, private, and home-schools. Judges evaluated the submissions and awarded first through third places, honorable mentions, and overall winners in each category, including Best of Show.

Hongsawong, a sixth grader, earned honorable mention for her self-titled drawing featuring cats, flowers, and books, while eighth-grade student Brooklyn Hardymon received honorable mention in the mixed media category for her piece titled “Stuff,” which incorporated sheet music and fibers.

This marks the 16th year of the competition, and the Parthenon has hosted it for the second consecutive year.
