Murfreesboro, TN - Randy O’Brien, a retired award-winning radio journalist and former News Director for WMOT-FM, has shifted gears to pursue his passion for writing historical fiction set in Middle Tennessee. Drawing inspiration from his family's roots in the region, O’Brien’s latest novel, "The Farm," delves into the aftermath of a violent encounter with a Nazi prisoner of war during World War II on a rural dairy farm.
 
With experience as an adjunct writing instructor at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), O’Brien leverages his educational background in English and History to weave captivating narratives that reflect the area’s rich heritage. His debut novel, "Gettysburg by Morning," sheds light on the untold stories of women who disguised themselves as men to participate in the Civil War, highlighting the bravery and sacrifices of individuals from Middle Tennessee and beyond.
 
Remaining deeply connected to Middle Tennessee’s cultural and historical fabric, O’Brien endeavors to illuminate the region’s past through his writing.
