RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) is proud to announce a significant milestone in partnership with Nissan USA: the House Dedication and Ribbon Cutting of Nissan's 17th Habitat House Build in Rutherford County. This event marks a momentous occasion for both organizations and the community as a whole.

The dedication ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 15th at 4pm at Habitat's Legacy Pointe subdivision in Murfreesboro.

99 volunteers from Nissan’s Smyrna facility, for a total of 739 hours, worked on the Habitat house for Future Homeowner Tabitha, a single mother of two. She will buy her home with a Habitat affordable mortgage and the family, along with Tabitha’s Mother, will move in soon. Like many Habitat Future Homeowners, the cost of rental housing has skyrocketed so she has been paying 50% of her monthly income on housing alone, and there is little to choose from in Middle Tennessee. With the Habitat Mortgage, she will not pay more than 30% of her monthly income on her mortgage, and she’ll build wealth equity and a legacy to pass on to her children.

"The apartment complex I resided in for 8+ years was no longer safe, there was little to no peace, and there were several health hazards left unrepaired", she states. Growing up in public housing, Tabitha’s mother always encouraged her to do what she needed to become a homeowner.

“My mother always hoped to one day provide a home for my sister and me. It is exciting that she is seeing this dream come true and that she will be a part of it.” Tabitha earned her CNA license and is currently working at Pain Management Group in Antioch. In 2023, Nissan proudly renewed their commitment with a Nissan Neighbors grant award of $1.3 million in support of building projects in Nissan operational communities across the United States.

In the last 19 years Nissan has contributed:

• 160 donated vehicles,
• 112,000+ volunteer hours
• $21 million+ in contributions
• 50+ communities impacted
• 300+ families in new homes

“If you’ve ever been out on one of our builds, you’ve seen the shirts our volunteers wear. They say “We build more than great cars…we build communities.” We stand by that. Nissan is committed to making a difference in our communities, not just through local jobs, but by giving back through a wide range of community programs,” states Ken Tucker, Manufacturing Communications for Nissan Group of North America.
