Scott Thomas has been tapped as the new girls basketball head coach at Oakland High School. He will succeed Jessica Southern, who resigned after two seasons. She was an assistant the three years prior under Shelby Campbell.
Thomas has been a part of Oakland High School for over 10-years in various roles. He's served as an assistant for the Lady Patriots for five of those years and a boys assistant most recently. He was also the boys basketball coach at Oakland Middle.
School officials say, "This appointment marks a significant step for our school's athletics program. We are excited about the energy and expertise Mr. Thomas brings to the role and are confident in his ability to continue the proud, winning traditions of the Lady Patriots."
Thomas, you may remember, also played high school football and basketball in Rutherford County at Riverdale. He was a 2006 Mr. Football finalists as a Warrior.
