MURFREESBORO, TN - Gunshot detection technology is being installed throughout the City of Murfreesboro... That was MPD Deputy Chief Cary Gensemer, who told WGNS that when the installation is complete, officers will have a quicker response time to calls involving gunshots... Responding quicker leaves less time for evidence to be moved or tampered with...

New technology in cities across America is leading to better data collection, which can lead to proactive policing, as opposed to reactive policing... That was MPD Captain Clayton Williams.

The gunshot detection system is one of several state-of-the-art technologies within the Murfreesboro Police Real-Time Crime Center. When the system detects the sound of gunshots, it automatically alerts dispatch and first responders, enabling them to locate shooting scenes more quickly.
