Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Adds New Chairman and Community Leaders to Foundation Board of Directors

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford is pleased to announce Dave Davis as new Board chairman for the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation Board of Directors. He will replace outgoing chairwoman, Vicki Eastham. In addition, three new members have been named to the Foundation’s Board of Directors; Yaz Hassan, Beth Cope, Liz McPhee. Pam Jones was selected as the Ambassador President. These Board members joined on June 20, during the Annual Board dinner.

Dave Davis - Dave was born and raised in Murfreesboro.  He attended the University of Tennessee and served in the U.S. Navy. After the military, he worked as an account manager in the commercial nuclear industry for Nuclear Logistics and Westinghouse. Since his retirement, Dave has been active in the community serving as a ruling elder for First Presbyterian Church, past co-chair of Wine Around the Square, and has been a member of the Foundation Board since 2017.

Yaz Hassan - Hassan, a Murfreesboro native and financial advisor with over 25 years of experience, is recognized as one of America's top financial professionals. He has consistently been named among Barron’s "Top 1200 Financial Advisors" and honored by the Financial Times and Forbes as one of the "Top 400 Advisors in America." Deeply involved in community service, he co-founded The Community Foundation of Rutherford County, serves on its executive committee, and contributes to Possibility Place. Hassan has served in leadership roles with the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. 

Beth Cope - Cope is a native of Chattanooga, and graduated from the University of Tennessee. A Murfreesboro resident since 2005, she has served on numerous committees in the community including New Vision Baptist Church, Greenhouse Ministries and Charity Circle of Murfreesboro. She is also very active at Homer Pittard Campus School where her children attend.

Liz McPhee - McPhee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education at Prairie View A&M University. She completed graduate work at Oklahoma State University and the University of Louisville. She has been a classroom teacher in public schools in four states. After more than 30 years of teaching, she retired in May 2014. Heavily involved in the community, she is a member of Belle Air Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Inc. McPhee currently serves on the Ambassador Board. She has also served on the Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation Board, MLK Board, the Cannon County Center for the Arts Board, and the Domestic Violence Board.

Pam Jones - Jones has been a real estate sales professional with PARKS since October 1986, and she recently transitioned to a new role with Onward Real Estate in June 2024. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Jones is deeply involved in her community, serving as a sustainer member of the Junior League of Murfreesboro and completing the Leadership Rutherford program in 2009. Her commitment extends to civic engagement as a former diplomat with the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce from 2010 to 2020. Additionally, she has dedicated over a decade to the Ambassadors of Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, where she currently serves as president for 2024. “Our Foundation Board members generously volunteer their time and expertise to help Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation fulfill its mission throughout Middle Tennessee,” said Gina DeJean, director for Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation. “We are fortunate to have Yaz Hassan, Beth Cope, Liz McPhee, and Pam Jones join this dynamic group of leaders. Three other Board members Dr. Libby Long, Nick Person and Joyce Taylor will be rolling off the Board this year.
