MURFREESBORO, TN - Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue firefighters responded to a house fire in the 900 block of Greenhill Street on Sunday afternoon, arriving just in time to find smoke billowing from the home. The call came in around 1:30 p.m., and as crews approached, it was clear they had their work cut out for them. After swiftly exiting their trucks, firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control and extinguish the fire.

While the homeowners were safely outside, the same couldn’t be said for their furry family members. Firefighters, demonstrating their dedication to all lives on the property, successfully rescued two cats that were trapped inside the burning home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among either the residents or their pets.

Despite the quick response and efforts, the fire left the home with significant damage. Unfortunately, the family was unable to return to the house that evening and was forced to find alternative accommodations for the night likely much longer.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office, which will be working to determine what sparked the blaze.
