(MURFREESBORO) – The population growth in Rutherford County is being seen in many areas, including emergency calls.

Brent Carter with Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services says in July, they answered a record setting 171 calls in a 24-hour period:

Carter says that there is no time of the day that is busier than the others – it’s non stop all day long. But with 18 trucks and three supervisor vehicles, Rutherford County EMS is staying on top of these calls. EMS workers are on a 24/72 hour work shifts. They work a 24 hour shift, and then have the next three days off.

Carter goes on to say that there is a nationwide shortage of paramedics:

Carter says that Rutherford County is doing pretty well with EMS staffing, with shifts pretty much full staffed. They have some PRN if needed.
