A Tale of Effortless Home Decorating in a Murfreesboro Shoplifting Case

MURFREESBORO, TN – In a world where DIY meets YOLO, a mysterious woman, armed with a smile and a gray Adidas cap, embarked on the ultimate home improvement project that began with a shopping spree, minus the part most shoppers are accustomed to: stopping at the cash register to pay for the chosen goods. To maintain the athletic theme from top to bottom, the shopper wore black sandals that featured the same classic three-stripe logo that adorned her cap.

This master of nonchalance strolled into Lowe’s on Old Fort Parkway wearing what appeared to be her finest pair of shorts, commonly referred to as jorts (cutoff jeans). As for her top, she sported a stylish rust-colored shirt, perhaps to make a fashion statement.

The heist of home décor took place on August 28, 2024 and looked to involve only one person, who seemed to effortlessly fill her cart with $952.25 worth of home decorating goodies. Cameras show that as she roamed around, she flashed a friendly grin at retail workers, presumably to say, 'I’ve got this.'"

Captured on security footage in what might be the most pleasant shoplifting case Murfreesboro has seen, the woman appeared to browse the aisles with the ease of someone who’s a shopping expert—perhaps even an interior designer in her spare time. And why pay for key accents to highlight the best parts of your home when you can just smile your way out the door?

Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) are now investigating this "smile-and-go" case, much to the disbelief of retail workers who probably thought she was too nice to steal. Then again, maybe she’s just too nice, to ever get tangled up in a heist.

MPD’s Larry Flowers, in an email to WGNS, confirmed that the mystery shopper is officially listed as a “person of interest.” In case you’re not familiar with police jargon, that means, “We’re not saying you did it, but... yeah, you could be tied to doing it.”

If you happen to know this interior décor diva or her secret techniques for scoring home goods at a 100% discount, Murfreesboro Detective Ed Gorham would love to hear from you. His digits are 629-201-5536. Again, if you have valuable tips on this form of home decorating or know the woman’s true identity, contact the detective at 629-201-5536, because even in 2024, paying for things is still a thing.

In Smyrna, nothing says "criminal mastermind" quite like wearing a t-shirt that reads, "My future is not just a dream" while allegedly stealing pet supplies. Read more about that saga HERE.
