William “Bill” Luther Barnes, Jr., age 91, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born in Corinth, Mississippi to the late William and Mattie Lou Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Barnes; brothers, John C. Barnes and James
Barnes; and sister, Lucille Dees.
He is survived by his sons, Ken Barnes and wife Donna, Gary Barnes and wife RoseAnne, Dale Barnes and wife Linda; grandchildren, Christy Pitman (Stephen), Lisa Felts (Chris), Jenna Bell (Isaac), Amy Via (Kevin), Kimberly Barnes, Chris Barnes (Taylor), Justin Barnes, and Monica Barnes; and 15 great grandchildren.
Bill was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed taking life one day at a time and spending time with his wife, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 11:00-1:00 PM at Woodfin Chapel Smyrna. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the Tennessee State Veterans Home of Murfreesboro or the Dementia Society.
