Donnie Maxwell, age 68, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024. A native of the
Kittrell/Murfreesboro area, Donnie was a proud graduate of the class of 1978 at Oakland High
School.
Known throughout town, Donnie was an avid sports fan and was and always will be regarded as
one of Murfreesboro’s adopted sons. True to his alma mater, Donnie was a permanent fixture at
Oakland football and basketball games and often kept “stats” in his trusty spiral notebook.
Through the last 4 decades, Donnie developed and cherished his friendships with many of the
Patriot players and their families. A former employee of Kroger, Donnie loved the interaction
with people at work and at his residence. A Murfreesboro man to his core, Donnie also
supported the MTSU Blue Raiders. Although he never played a down, Donnie was Inducted
into the Oakland High School football hall of fame in 2015, easily his proudest moment.
Quick with a smile and a wave of his hand, Donnie was a kind and gentle soul. Donnie lived his
life to the best of his ability, even though that ability was limited.
The friends of Donnie would like to thank the staff at ACH Northside for their kindness and
compassion, exactly the traits that Donnie showed others.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Woodfin Funeral Chapels and a memorial
service will be held in the near future.
