LA VERGNE, TN – The highly anticipated Halloween event, Goblins and Goodies, is set to make its return on October 26 from Noon to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Park in La Vergne. Children of all ages are invited to dress in their favorite costumes and trick-or-treat along the walking trail near the play structure, where local businesses and city departments will host booths filled with Halloween treats.
The highlight of the event will be the Halloween Costume Contest, which kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at Pavilion A. Participants will be divided into age categories, and prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Contestants in age groups 4 and under, 5-9 years old, 10-14 years old, and 15 and up will compete for Walmart gift cards, with 1st place receiving $50, 2nd place $25, and 3rd place $15. The winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.
Local businesses and organizations that sign up to participate in the event work to decorate their booths with a family-friendly Halloween theme. Business owners, managers and employees then hand out loads of candy to include everything from Skittles to Goo-Goo Clusters. To turn up the fun even more, trick-or-treaters will be able to tackle action packed games that will be setup at some booths. To make this Halloween event available to residents and visitors of all ages and financial backgrounds, the entire event is free to the public.
For those who love to dance, the event will also feature a Zombie Dance Off that begins at 2:00 p.m. Families can groove to Halloween-themed music in a fun and friendly atmosphere that promises to entertain both the young and old.
Booth Space: Booth space is still available for local businesses and organizations looking to join the fun by handing out candy. Registration for Goblins and Goodies is free, and interested vendors can sign up by contacting the La Vergne Parks and Recreation Department at (615) 793-3224 or by visiting the event page on the city’s website (click here to visit the event page on the La Vergne website).
Watch for Scams: The City of La Vergne is reminding residents and vendors to be cautious, as scammers have been attempting to fraudulently solicit non-city affiliated registrations for park events. If there are any doubts or questions about event registration, contact the Parks office directly or email kmelendy@lavergnetn.gov for verification.
