Murfreesboro, TN – If you’re interested in learning more about BEE KEEPING, then you need to attend this Monday (10/7/2024) night’s monthly meeting. It begins at 7:00PM at the Lane Agri-Park, 315 John R. Rice Boulevard, Murfreesboro. Admission is free.

Did you realize that Hurricane Helene had an impact on bees and that includes honey bees? That information will be shared at the gathering.

An estimated 60,000 beehives have been damaged or destroyed throughout Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. The surviving bees are in danger of starving, because the vegetation they survive on has been wiped out by the flooding.

Greater Good Charities online has started an effort to help.

Among other things distributing pollen substitute to beekeepers to help feed their livestock. Yes, bees are considered livestock. And, they are crucial to agriculture.  For instance -- to pollinating blueberries, almond, strawberry, melon and even orange crops across the region.

Snacks at this Monday night’s meeting sound great!  "Biscuits & Honey" will be there to sample after the meeting, so bring a bottle of your honey to share (preferably in a squeeze bottle if possible). Biscuits and eating supplies will be provided.

Again, current and prospective bee keepers are encouraged to attend. Again, the monthly meeting begins at 7:00PM in the Lane Agri-Park.
