MURFREESBORO, TN - Shopping carts and sticky fingers—what could go wrong? A leisurely day at the Publix on Veterans Parkway took an unfortunate turn for one elderly shopper when her wallet mysteriously vanished on October 7. Turns out, some opportunistic “shoppers” decided to upgrade from groceries to grand larceny by taking a joyride with the victim’s debit card—racking up more than $3,700 in purchases at Sam’s Club. Guess you can't put a price on convenience... or maybe you can.
Murfreesboro detectives are now trying to identify the two suspects captured in security footage. If you happen to recognize them (or just want to chat about their shopping habits), Detective Speed is all ears at 629-201-5664. Again, the incident was reported at the brand ‘spanking new’ Publix at Westlawn in Murfreesboro on Veterans Parkway near I-840.
So next time you're at the grocery store, hold on to your wallet—or, better yet, carry a decoy wallet filled with expired coupons and IOUs. It’s the little things that keep life exciting!
