Middle Tennessee State University student Carley Vogel will head to Orlando in December to compete in Miss America. She was crowned Miss Tennessee back in June. Vogel is a music business student at MTSU’s College of Media and Entertainment, with hopes to work in the country music scene one day:

Vogel is passionate about organ donation, partnering with Donate Life Tennessee and The American Liver Foundation. She was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis at 12 years old:

Vogel first started competing in pageants when she was 12 and started to compete with the Miss America Organization at the age of 14 in Georgia. The reason she chose Miss America was because of women empowerment and scholarships towards college education.

Miss Tennessee was held in Johnson City this year. The event goes on for multiple days, with different competitions every evening until the winner is revealed:

Vogel sang “Climb Every Mountain” from “The Sound of Music” for her talent portion of the pageant, and she’ll be singing the same rendition at the Miss America Competition.

Miss America will be crowned on January 5th of next year. We wish Carley the best of luck!
