MURFREESBORO, TN - On Thursday morning, a nine-vehicle accident on SE Broad Street at South Church Street in Murfreesboro caused a major traffic disruption and led to the hospitalization of five individuals. The accident, which occurred around 11:15 a.m., originated from a rear-end collision, triggering a chain reaction that quickly involved nine vehicles.

According to Murfreesboro Police, the crash resulted in the closure of all lanes on Broad Street between South Church and Vine Street, forcing traffic to a standstill in the area. Motorists found themselves rerouting as emergency crews worked to clear the vehicles and assess the scene.

Five people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for further care. Seven other individuals involved in the collision were evaluated on site and reported to be uninjured. Police confirmed the total number of those involved and noted that the injuries, although requiring medical attention, were not severe.

The blocked intersection is one of Murfreesboro's busiest, particularly during the morning commute, amplifying the impact of the accident. Traffic disruptions stretched across the area as crews worked at clearing the road and investigating the incident. The roadway reopened within about 20-minutes of emergency personnel arriving on the scene a short time later.

The Murfreesboro Police Department is continuing its investigation into the crash. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on busy roadways and maintain safe following distances to prevent similar accidents.
