MURFREESBORO, TN - The Center for the Arts in Murfreesboro has long been a cherished venue for both entertainment and education, offering a rich schedule of plays and musicals throughout the year. This non-profit theater is dedicated to bringing the community together through the arts, with performances that highlight the talents of local actors and actresses, both young and old… That was Keri Boe, Director of Theatre & Operations. Those who participate in the arts invest a multitude of hours into each production to bring each play to life.
This holiday season, the Center for the Arts presents a lineup that includes Irving Berlin's White Christmas, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Alice in Wonderland Jr. The seasonal favorite White Christmas, which will take place at MTSU’s Tucker Theater, brings a larger-scale setting for the beloved classic. Directed by Rachel Jones, this production features local actors Eric Fisher as Bob Wallace and Darcy Pingel as Betty Haynes, who tackle the vocals with precision… While Fisher is relatively new to the stage… Pingel’s roots in acting go back to her childhood… Pingel is bringing her years of experience and passion to White Christmas this December.
Murfreesboro’s Center for the Arts has built a reputation not only as an entertainment venue but as an educational resource for people of all ages and backgrounds to gain skills in performance, public speaking, and stage production while forming lifelong friendships and connections. The theater’s lineup offers a range of shows, from family-friendly productions to nostalgic musicals, giving audiences something for every interest and age group.
For those interested in experiencing any of the productions, tickets can be purchased through the Center for the Arts’ official website, BoroArts.org. The Center is committed to making the arts accessible and inclusive for the entire Murfreesboro community, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of its local performers. But as the Murfreesboro area grows, so will the need for a larger space to produce local plays. When WGNS asked the director of the center if they have plans for a larger venue in the future, she told us…
