The TSSAA has announced its initial realignment for Rutherford County schools for the 2025-2027 school years, introducing significant changes across several sports.
Football
Region 3-6A
All eight Rutherford County teams that were previously split across different regions will now come together in one consolidated region, forming Region 3-6A.
Region 5-1A
Eagleville will join Region 5-1A, competing with Cornersville, Fayetteville, Huntland, Moore County, and Richland.
Division II-A
Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) and Providence Christian Academy (PCA) will be grouped in the East Region, alongside Concord Christian, Grace Baptist, Providence Academy (Johnson City), The King’s Academy, and Webb School.
Basketball, Baseball, and Softball
Class 4A
Major shifts are also happening for these sports. The eight Rutherford County 4A teams will be split into two districts, playing within the region:
-
District 9-4A: Blackman, La Vergne, Smyrna, and Stewarts Creek.
-
District 10-4A: Oakland, Riverdale, Rockvale, and Siegel.
These districts will form Region 5, which will now feature westward travel for sectional games instead of competing in the Chattanooga area.
District 8-3A (Central Magnet)
Central Magnet will join a four-team district comprising DeKalb County, Macon County, and Watertown.
District 10-1A (Eagleville)
Eagleville will be part of District 10-1A, which includes Culleoka, Hampshire, Mt. Pleasant, and Santa Fe.
DII-A District 3 (MTCS & PCA)
MTCS and PCA will remain in DII-A District 3. Nashville Christian and University School of Nashville will move to a different district, while new additions include Franklin Christian, Highland Rim Academy, and St. Cecilia Academy.
These realignments mark a significant shift in the competitive landscape for Rutherford County schools, promising new matchups and regional dynamics for the upcoming school years.
