Murfreesboro, TN - As you recall, the historic “House of Mayors” that stood at the corner of North Spring and Bell Streets has been gone for almost 2-years. It will be replaced by the 12-unit Spring Street Townhomes.
The historic structure was razed in early January, 2023, and the land has remained vacant. That is changing. In addition, two adjacent parcels have been cleared and twelve town houses are being built in the 500 block of N. Spring St.
A listener phoned Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland when he was on a WGNS talk show (1/13/2024) and asked what was being constructed. He did not have the information, and after the broadcast the mayor contacted Murfreesboro’s Planning and Land Management office.
Director Ben Newman said that the property is now being cleared for the construction of three structures that would each have 4 townhomes.
