The department confirmed that these claims are entirely unfounded.
According to a statement from the police, the incident in question occurred on Sunday, November 17, at approximately 5:42 p.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the van after its driver failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign. The vehicle was occupied by six adults and one infant, contrary to rumors of a "van full of kids."
Multiple officers responded to the scene as backup, and the individuals were briefly detained as part of an investigation related to an earlier incident. The adults were interviewed, cleared of any suspicion, and subsequently released. No arrests were made.
In their statement, the Murfreesboro Police Department emphasized that the allegations of human trafficking or involvement of Venezuelan gangs circulating on social media are "simply not true."
