RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - After an unseasonably warm fall, temperatures in Rutherford County and across Middle Tennessee are expected to plunge this week, marking the region’s first significant cold snap of the season.
A cold front will pass through Wednesday and after the rain, once the front passes, temperatures will take a sharp dive, with highs struggling to reach the 40s on Thursday.
Thursday is shaping up to be cold and blustery, with wind gusts between 15 and 30 mph creating wind chills that could dip into the 20s.
The coldest temperatures of the season are expected over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday mornings providing the best chance for a freeze, which we haven't had so far this season. Typically, the first freeze occurs by November 1, but this year’s warmth has delayed it.
With freezing temperatures imminent, residents are urged to winterize their homes and protect outdoor pipes, plants, and pets. The abrupt transition from mild to freezing weather can catch many off guard, so taking precautions now will help avoid any complications.
Bundle up - it’s going to be a chilly end to the week in Rutherford County!
