MURFREESBORO, TENN. – A Murfreesboro man has been charged in a deadly crash that claimed the life of a Lebanon woman in September. On Tuesday evening, 41-year-old Terry Elmore was arrested for aggravated vehicular homicide following the fatal collision on West Main Street at Castle Heights Avenue in Lebanon.

The crash occurred on the night of September 24 in front of Wilson Bank & Trust. A patrolling Lebanon, TN police officer came upon the scene, which involved three vehicles and two drivers that were severely injured. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the officer immediately called for assistance from nearby officers, the Lebanon Fire Department, and WEMA.

Emergency responders rendered aid to the victims, with Elmore transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. Sadly, 58-year-old Juanita Birdsong (pictured right) of Lebanon was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Lebanon Police Department’s traffic unit launched an in-depth investigation. Evidence gathered during the investigation led to Elmore being charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in Birdsong’s death.

Elmore was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Wilson County Jail on a $400,000 bond. While the case remains under investigation, authorities have released limited additional details.

Birdsong served in the United States Army before beginning her career in information technology (IT) within the Healthcare industry. She was survived by her husband of 23 years, David Birdsong; children: Brittany Jackson and Eric Birdsong; mother: Patricia Collins; sisters: Wanda Brenner and Carol Pedigo.

This tragic incident has left the community mourning the loss of Mrs. Birdsong as the legal process moves forward. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
