January 1, 1944, a day that will live in exaltation, Rutherford County's first radio station rang-in the New Year. The G N S in the station's call-sign stood for GOOD NEIGHBOR STATION, just as it still does! It has been an honor to serve The Heart of Tennessee for these many decades, and when we get a dozen more under our belt, WGNS will be at the century mark!
A special thank you to local residents who support the radio station by listening as well as reading the latest news on the website. Also, we are grateful that many local businesses continue to advertise with us and allow the Good Neighbor to continue this community service.
WGNS began with only AM 1450, and now includes FM 101.9 MHz in Murfreesboro and FM 100.5 MHz in Smyrna, TN. Plus, we have offered 24/7 broadcasting since 1984, and worldwide coverage at WGNSradio.com.
