Franklin Road (Highway 96) at Fortress Boulevard has reopened following a serious two-car accident on Wednesday morning in Murfreesboro. The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), along with Murfreesboro Police temporarily shut down the busy roadway in both directions as emergency responders worked at the scene.

The crash, which occurred around 8:30 a.m., prompted an immediate response from paramedics and other first responders. Authorities confirmed that there were injuries involved in the wreck, and at least one individual was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The condition of those injured has not yet been disclosed.

During the closure, commuters experienced delays as THP officers began their investigation into the cause of the collision. Traffic flow resumed after the roadway was cleared, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Highway 96 is a major route for Murfreesboro drivers, and incidents such as this one highlight the importance of cautious driving on heavily trafficked roads. During the weeks leading up to Christmas, there is increased traffic on area thoroughfares. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is expected to release more information as their investigation progresses.
