Murfreesboro, TN - There was quite a bit of confusion in the 1800 block of Haynes Drive Saturday night (12/14/2024). The bright white light used by Murfreesboro Water Resources for emergency sewage repairs was mistaken for a gas flame, causing many motorists to turn around instead of using the open lane.

Collection Crew Leader Trevor Haley mentioned that the light was so bright it gave an "almost daylight glow," making it easier for the backhoe operator to work as if it were daytime.

He explained...

So, next time you see a road partially closed with heavy trucks and a bright white column of light, don't worry—it's just the city's new natural worklight, not a gas flame.
