MURFREESBORO, TN — Murfreesboro Police officers are actively searching for the person responsible for a late-night shooting that left two people critically injured at the Clarion Inn on Chaffin Place. The incident occurred around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, behind the hotel, which is located near the intersection of Chaffin Place and Old Fort Parkway.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a man and a woman were shot while in a vehicle behind the hotel. In an attempt to escape, the vehicle struck a wall before coming to a halt. The victims were later found in front of the hotel, close to the KFC restaurant. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, further adding to the chaos of the scene.
A bystander outside a nearby gas station shared their account, telling WGNS, “I heard multiple gunshots coming from the area of the hotel and wasn’t sure if the shooting was at KFC or in front of the bar attached to the hotel.” Another witness suggested the shots were fired in the hotel parking lot closer to the interstate side of the property.
Upon arrival, officers began administering first aid to the victims found in their vehicle until personnel from the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department and Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services took over. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in identifying the suspect or suspects involved.
