MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A car crash at United Grocery Outlet on SE Broad Street Thursday afternoon appears to be linked to a theft at a nearby pawn shop, according to the Murfreesboro Police Department.
MPD officers responded to the incident at 1:19 p.m. on December 19. Public Information Officer Larry Flowers says, "Upon arrival, officers discovered a car had crashed into a column in front of the business." Initial investigations suggest the crash is connected to the theft of a bracelet from Toliver's Pawn and Check Advance, which is in the same business center as the grocery.
Police report that four individuals entered the pawn shop, stole a bracelet, and were confronted by the shop owner, who pursued them outside. An altercation ensued between the owner and one of the suspects as the group attempted to flee. During the chaotic scene, the car they were using crashed into the awning at United Grocery Outlet.
Witnesses described seeing the four suspects abandon the damaged vehicle and flee on foot. Police are actively searching for the individuals involved.
The case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Murfreesboro Police Department.
