Rutherford County, TN - The Rutherford County Solid Waste (RCSW) Department is currently handling a high volume of trash and traffic at its convenience centers as residents dispose of waste from the Christmas holiday.
To manage this surge, Solid Waste is coordinating with the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and the La Vergne Police Department. Solid Waste Director Bishop Wagener stated, "We are working together with our partner agencies to keep the public safe as we manage the expected high volume of traffic from the holiday."
RCSW requests that residents avoid lining up or queuing on roads and highways, as this impedes through traffic and can cause accidents. If the line to the convenience center extends to the road, residents are advised to bypass the center, visit another center, or return at a later time.
To accommodate the increased demand, Rutherford County Solid Waste will operate extended hours from 7:30 AM until 5:00 PM through Sunday, December 29, 2024. Any changes to these hours will be posted on the Rutherford County Solid Waste website and Facebook page.
