Murfreesboro, TN - Another day brings another stop from LPR's (license plate readers). Murfreesboro Police Department's Real Time Crime Center is using technology to locate criminals.
A real-time crime center (RTCC) is a centralized unit that provides law enforcement with real-time information to help them respond to crimes.
Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers notes, "MPD license plate reader cameras alerted officers to a stolen SUV on S. Rutherford. Officers stopped the Ford Expedition and after a short foot-pursuit, the 18-year-old driver was apprehended and now faces multiple charges."
One crime often leads to another. With this stolen vehicle arrest, officers also found in the vehicle: a firearm, marijuana, scale, large amount of cash and burglary tools.
The SUV was reported stolen from Tullahoma.
