RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a garbage truck was traveling southbound on Lebanon Road when it struck a FedEx truck from behind. The FedEx vehicle, also traveling south, had stopped to make a left-hand turn into a residential driveway. As the FedEx driver began the turn, the garbage truck collided with the rear of the vehicle.

At the time of the collision, the 69-year-old driver of a Mazda SUV was traveling northbound in the opposite lane, near the intersection of Lebanon Road and Alsup Mill Road. The impact from the garbage truck is believed to have pushed the FedEx truck into the path of the oncoming Mazda.

Although all drivers were wearing seatbelts, the driver of the 2023 Mazda sustained injuries in the crash. According to the THP report, both the FedEx driver and the garbage truck driver were uninjured.

No charges have been filed in the case at this time.
