Arrest made in Ramming of a Murfreesboro Police Car occured and more

32 Year old Christopher Nathan Thomas of Morgan Road in Eagleville, was charged with aggravated robbery, robbery, felony evading arrest, evading arrest, vandalism and driving on a suspended license.

The arrest of Thomas came after an armed robbery involving a subject who allegedly rammed a Murfreesboro Police car. Thomas, the suspect in the case, reportedly escaped injury when authorities say that he drove toward a law enforcement officer who fired at him Wednesday on Cason Lane.

Thomas is accused of robbing the Stop and Shop Liquor and Wine store on St. Andrews Drive and later the Exxon Tiger Mart on New Salem Highway, Murfreesboro Police reported.

A Rutherford County Sheriff's deputy spotted Thomas moments later at Auto Pride Car Wash on Cason Lane, which was reportedly when the ramming of an arriving Murfreesboro Police car occurred. The suspect also allegedly drove toward a sheriff's deputy who fired at the vehicle.

Police and sheriff's deputies pursued the suspect on Cason Lane where another deputy deployed spike strips to stop the car.

Officers reported the suspect continued driving until he struck a car at the intersection of New Salem Highway and Cason Lane.

The wreck caused a multi-vehicle crash where a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle and a Murfreesboro Police vehicle collided with the suspect's vehicle.

The suspect fled on foot and was quickly taken into custody at the Exxon Tiger Mart on New Salem Highway.

Now, Thomas remains behind bars and a hearing is set for April 7th in General Sessions Court.? The man is being held under a $67,000 bond.
