Monday, a group known as "BEAT LAMAR" made an announcement about the Joe Carr campaign. BEAT LAMAR Co-founder Michael Patrick Leahy and the Coalition for a Constitutional Senate, led by organizer Eric Stamper, both announced they were endorsing Joe Carr for U.S. Senate in the 2014 U.S. Senate race against sitting Senator Lamar Alexander.

BEAT LAMAR is a project of the SuperPac the Real Conservatives National Committee and a coalition of local Tea Party groups. The Coalition for a Constitutional Senate contains more than 60 Tea Party and liberty groups across the state.

“I have been vetted extensively over the past month and have visited with many concerned citizens across the state who are ready to send a true conservative to D.C. I am ready to take Tennesseans voices to Washington and to fight for the core conservative principles our nation was founded on.

“Both BEAT LAMAR and the Coalition for a Constitutional Senate felt it was important to vet and ultimately unify behind one single candidate. I am humbled by the support I have received across the state and glad to be the emerging candidate chosen to carry the unified voice of Tennesseans to D.C.”

Last week, Rep. Joe Carr released a statement calling on Sen. Lamar Alexander to stand with Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee, and the citizens of Tennessee and vote NO to cloture. He also refuted Sen. Alexander’s Senate Floor statements in which he dishonored the memory of famous Tennessean Davy Crockett, who sacrificed his life fighting at the Alamo

Representative Joe Carr is an announced candidate running against Sen. Lamar Alexander in the 2014 Republican Primary. He is a principled conservative who believes that Washington needs to return to our founding core principles of personal responsibility, individual liberty, and free and fair markets.
