27-year old Robert A. Sullivan was killed in a fiery motorcycle crash on I-24 in Murfreesboro around 8:45 Monday night (2/24/2014).

Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesperson Dalya Qualls told WGNS News that 27-year old Robert A. Sullivan of Murfreesboro was killed while riding his Suzuki 1000 motorcycle.

Trooper Randy McDonald reports that the motorcycle burned to the point that the license tag was not identifiable and its VIN number was not on file.

Trooper McDonald's crash report shows that the Suzuki motorcycle and a 2005 Dodge Caravan were traveling eastbound (toward Chattanooga) on I-24 at mile marker 79. The THP report shows that witnesses say the motorcycle was traveling in lane 3 at a high rate of speed behind the mini-van. It slammed into the rear of the Dodge Caravan and the motorcycle exploded into flames. 

After impact, the mini-van moved to the right shoulder. The motorcycle slid into lane 1. Witnesses say that both the Suzuki and its rider were on fire. The motorcycle came to a stop some 222-feet from the point of impact, while the Dodge Caravan pulled to the side of the interstate approximately 39-feet from where the crash occurred.
