Rain Did NOT Dampen Tree Lighting On Square

The annual Christmas tree lighting on the Murfreesboro square may have had rain, but that did not dampen the spirit of the season. The celebration moved inside the historic Rutherford County Courthouse while Santa helped throw the switch that lit the giant tree.

Our hats are off to Main Street's Director Kathleen Herzog, whose organization puts together this event that spotlights the beauty of the historic town square.

The rain started early Friday afternoon and continued late into the evening, so the decision was made to move the music and dancers inside the courthouse.

The holiday activities continue on the Murfreesboro square.

Santa will be in the courthouse for you to take pictures using your personal camera on weekends through December 20th. In addition to your personal photos, you can purchase professional Santa photos from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening on December 12th and 19th.

In addition to St. Nick, another part of the holiday mood is set with horse and carriage rides around the historic district. Combine this with shopping and dinner at the downtown restaurants from 5:30 until 8:30 in the evening on Friday, December 12th and 19th.

And for those who enjoyed the Holly Trolly last week, there will be another opportunity for free rides on Saturday, December 13th, from 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.
