Possible 2012 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain drew a large crowd to the Rutherford County courthouse Thursday night (7/14/11). Cain argues that he is a Black-American and not African-American. The 65-year Atlanta resident was formerly the president and CEO of Godfather's Pizza as well as serving as chairman of the board for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
He appears to have captured the attention of Tea Party members, especially after a comment about his discomfort with a surgeon who was operating on him because the doctor was a Muslim. Cain earlier said, "There's this creeping attempt to gradually ease Shariah Law and the Muslim faith into our government. It does not belong in our government"
At the Murfreesboro rally, he shared the importance of preserving the America for which our forefather's fought. This desire was made more personal to him with the recent birth of a grandchild.
Reports indicate that Cain is a very religious, family oriented person. He is an associate minister with the Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta. That church is a part of the National Baptist Convention USA, which he joined at age 10.
In 2006 Herman Cain was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in his colon and liver, but with chemotherapy is now said to be "cancer free".
