La Vergne elected officials will hold a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, July 21 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting will be attended by Mayor Senna Mosley, Vice Mayor Chris Farmer, and Aldermen Tom Broeker, Sherry Green, and Dennis Waldron. City Administrator Steve Mayor is moderating the event.  Board members are calling for open, honest discussion about the issues facing both the city and residents, including the economic difficulties both face.

Alderman Broeker hopes that residents will share their ideas and talk about topics of interest to them.  In return, city officials will use the opportunity to explain the recent rate increases for water, sewer, and property taxes; and discuss the state’s official endorsement of the city’s recovery from being a financially distressed water system. This is an open meeting and the public is invited to attend.  Seating is limited to 105.

Some city residents have been working to gather signatures that would force a vote to unincorporate La Vergne. They're angry with city officials over increases in property taxes plus the higher costs for water and sewer.
