A 3-year-old toddler died Monday from drowning at a family pool on Orchard Park Drive.

The toddler from Alabama was visiting family in Rutherford County when he was found unresponsive in the above-ground pool Sunday off Barfield Road, said Rutherford County Detective Lt. Todd Sparks. Family members started CPR until sheriff’s Sgt. Monica Fonseca arrived and continued trying to save his life.

Paramedics took him to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where LifeFlight helicopter flew him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died Monday.
 
Rutherford County detectives are still collecting statements and will be working with all people present at the time of the tragedy. The detectives will speak to paramedics and physicians who worked on the toddler.
