If you're about to get a Tennessee driver's license or renew your old one, in a week the center will have new hours. Starting Monday, August 15th, all Drivers Service Centers will be open weekdays from 8:30 in the mornings until 5:00 each afternoon. The local facility for this area is at 1035 Samsonite Boulevard, near the New Salem Highway and just off Middle Tennessee Boulevard. The change comes as part of the department’s top-to-bottom review, which aims to provide efficient, customer-friendly service.
Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons told WGNS News, “Having consistent days and hours of operation at each station is one way to help provide better service to all patrons and ultimately create a more customer-friendly system at driver license centers in Tennessee.”
Since March, the department has unveiled a new, more secure driver license and identification card to ward off document fraud and protect the identities of Tennesseans; consolidated driver license services in Rutherford County and launched a reinstatement-only service center in Davidson County as part of an overall effort to improve driver license services in the state.
Again, starting Monday, August 15th, the drivers license testing center will be open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 each morning until 5:00 that afternoon.
