LaVergne High School Band Director Edward Freytag has been recognized as one of the leading percussionists in the country. 

Freytag said, "My music publishers have recently informed me that I now have 58 music publications now on required state music lists across the country. This means that my music compositions are highly suggested and often required as performance materials for competitions and festivals across the nation."

The local educator concluded, "I do all that I can both personally and with our music program to represent La Vergne High School and Rutherford County statewide and nationally."
