GARDEN OF HOPE is now official!

You've heard Sheriff Robert Arnold talking on WGNS about the inmate's Garden of Hope that's in front of the Adult Detention Center along the New Salem Highway. Community leaders joined inmates Tuesday (8/16/2011) for a unique Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting.

Sheriff Arnold noted on the radio broadcast that some of the food used at the jail could be grown. This would not create huge savings, but he noted that every bit adds up. The sheriff also commented that it teaches inmates another life skill.

Guidance from MTSU's College of Agribusiness and Agriscience along with the Rutherford County Agricultural Extension Service have helped get this new project growing successfully.

Sheriff Robert Arnold will be on the WGNS Action Line from 8:10 to 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning (8/17/2011), and the public will have the opportunity to phone and ask about this project and others at the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office.
