A property tax increase of 12-cents on every $100 of the assessed value of the property may be in store for Cannon County residents. The Cannon County Commission is looking at the increase to help balance the budget in order to keep from cutting funds in the different departments. If passed by the Cannon County Commissioners the property tax would go from the current $2.32 to $2.44 per $100 of assessed property. The recommendation will go before the Cannon County Commissioners in a special called meeting tentatively scheduled for Thursday September 15th.
