The landfill is overseen by Republic Services. Reports from Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess indicate the landfill will have to be closed down in 8 to 12 years, which is the remaining life expectancy of the Middle Point Landfill. After the site reaches its capacity, Rutherford County will have to find a new place to dump their trash.
